June 23

11 July 2023

In June, we MV tested and recorded the eight week weights in the older Lleyns. I wasn’t sure how they would weigh, they have looked good, but have been run under a worm challenge and haven’t been wormed this year so far, combined with lower quality and not much grass about. The lambs weighed really well; they have averaged 360g/ day with an average adjusted weight of 24kg at 56 days which is great for us. Our top ewe is rearing one rearing triplets, and has already reared over 100% of her body weight at eight weeks old.

The dry weather is really starting to affect the grass growth, and we are seeing very little regrowth once we move them.

Our lleyn rams have been inspected for this year. We have a selection of registered and non-registered rams available. I am focusing on easy lambing, high vigour lambs that will go on to sire prolific and milky daughters. Get in touch if you would like more information.

I had a fantastic trip up to Scotland with the PRLB, and got to see some fantastic farms. PRLB is a great group to be involved with and there his a huge wealth of knowledge and sheep to pick from.
